On Monday July 19 at 5:35 p.m. Companies 06,42, 04 (Darby #1), and RIT 44 (Springfield) were dispatched for the dwelling fire reported to be a toaster in the 1000 block of Andrews Ave. 2nd Asst. Chief Kilroy (42-9b) was first on scene and reported a 2 story MOR with light smoke showing. A small fire on top of the stove involving the toaster and its contents was found with a heavy smoke condition inside. QT06 under the command of Asst. Chief Hanly (06-9a) arrived and went in service with a dry chemical extinguisher. 42-1 took the hydrant assignment and crews from 42-1 and 06-1 checked the residence for extension. The fire was contained to the toaster and stove top and a positive pressure fan was placed in service. Crews from E42 and 04-1 checked the adjoining residences for smoke extension with negative results. Companies were in service for less than one half hour.
